High speed internet is something that many of us come to take for granted within our homes, using it for all sorts of purposes from educational and financial to entertainment and communication. However, a recent report has revealed that more than a quarter of people in Minnesota do not have broadband in the home.
Most of us who have high speed internet and broadband services in the home would find it hard to imagine life without this technology, as it is something that we have come to rely on for a huge range of purposes. However, a recent report has revealed that over a quarter of people in Minnesota do not have broadband services in the home.
The report showed that in total around 28 percent of people in Minnesota either do not have any internet access in the home or are still on extremely slow internet services. The figures were revealed following a study carried out by Connect Minnesota, a public-private partnership, which involved polling 1200 residents.
A summit is to be held by Connect Minnesota and the Blandin Foundation, where officials will look at ways to try and increase adoption of broadband and high speed internet in Minnesota. However, whilst there are 28 percent of people without broadband at home in Minnesota the national figure is an average of 35 percent without broadband in the home.
One official said that many people were missing out by failing to have broadband or high speed internet in the home, stating: “Life becomes less easy and more expensive if you can’t get online.”
