Reports have shown how many people in the United States took advantage of their high speed broadband services in order to get online and bag great deals over Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
The recent Thanksgiving weekend was a very important one for shoppers because of the Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales that saw retailers in a wide range of sectors slashing their prices and offering fantastic deals in order to draw in increased custom in the run up to Christmas.
It is clear that consumers have been taking advantage of both their high speed home broadband as well as their mobile internet services, with many flocking online to try and bag the variety of bargains in the run up to Christmas. In fact, so many people went online to make their bargain purchases that online sales for Cyber Monday hit record highs, leaping by thirty three percent compared to Cyber Monday in 2010.
Black Friday this year also enjoyed record sales, which took place across a variety of platforms including online and in person by those actually visiting physical stores. John Squire, chief strategy officer of IBM Smarter Commerce, said: “Cyber Monday was once again the big winner for the Thanksgiving holiday shopping season, with a record number of consumers focused on finding the best online deals.”
The greatest consistency in sales over the two big shopping days came in the early hours before people went to work and during the late afternoon and early evening when they got back from work. These were the times when many people were logging on and trying to get their hands on a bargain via the Internet before heading into work or just after getting back.
